Tuesday Classes – Spring 2018


4:00 – 5:30 p.m. – Beginning Hebrew II

Sounding out words and building vocabulary. Prerequisite for all other classes.


5:45 – 7:15 p.m. – Beginning Hebrew I

Includes Alef Bet Training. Prerequisite for all other classes.


5:45 – 7:15 p.m. – Advanced Biblical Hebrew III

In-depth Biblical Hebrew. Dig deeper as you continue to explore the historical and philosophical roots of Biblical Hebrew.

(Incoming students must have completed Biblical Hebrew I – II  or have Instructor permission to enroll.)


7:30 – 9:00 p.m. – Modern Hebrew IV

Go deeper in your ability to speak and read Modern Hebrew!

(Incoming students must have completed Modern I – III  or have Instructor permission to enroll.)

Beginning Hebrew I

This semester long class meets every Tuesday from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m. By the end of this class you will know the Hebrew “Alef Bet” in print, “catav” (cursive), and you will be able to read basic three letter Hebrew words! Note: This class is a prerequisite to all of our other classes.

Cost: $250 for the semester (plus textbook and supplies – $30).

Length: Fall Classes: August 7th – December 18th, 2018.
Spring Classes: January 15th – May 21st, 2019

Beginning Hebrew II

This class continues on from Beginning Hebrew I and focuses on building vocabulary – and reading and writing skills.

Cost: $250 for the semester (plus textbook and supplies – $35).
Length: August 7th – December 18th, 2018

Modern Hebrew I

This semester long class meets every Tuesday from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m. By the end of this class you will know common modern Hebrew phrases and words! This class will focus on Essential Expressions, People and the Family, Numbers, and Things Around the House. Prerequisite: Alef Bet

Cost: $250 for the semester (includes textbook and audio cd companion set).

CLASS 3 – Modern Hebrew II

By the end of this class you will be speaking Modern Hebrew with an Israeli accent! This class will focus on essentials of daily life in Israel – navigating home, market, school, and professional environments. Prerequisite: Modern Hebrew I

Cost: $250 for the semester.

Length: Not held Fall 2018/Spring 2019.

CLASS 4 – Modern Hebrew III

Deep work on speaking, writing, and reading Modern Hebrew through the eyes of a native Israeli! This class will cover many subjects ranging throughout daily life in Israel! Prerequisite: Modern Hebrew I and II.

Cost: $250 for the semester.

Length: Not offered Fall 2018/Spring 2019.

CLASS 5 – Biblical Hebrew I

This semester long class meets every Tuesday from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m. By the end of this class you will have a basic grasp on the structure of the language of the Torah. Prerequisite: Aleph Bet

Cost: $250 for the semester (not including textbook – approximately $20).

Length: Not Held Spring/Fall 2018.

CLASS 6 – Biblical Hebrew II

This semester long class meets every Tuesday evening. By the end of this class you will be able to read the Torah in its original language. Prerequisite: Biblical Hebrew I

Cost: $250 for the semester (same textbook as Biblical Hebrew I).

Length: August 7th – December 18th, 2018.

  • Enrollment for each class will not exceed 15 students.
  • All fees are due one week prior to the start of the course starts.
  • Enrollment is NOT guaranteed. We will respond to applications in the order they are received.
  • You MUST have taken the prerequisite for each class with us – or be able to explain where you have taken its equivalent.
  • You will be contacted by our Head Education Coordinator after your information is received.

Classes Taught: Beginning Hebrew I & II, Modern I – IV


Shai was born and raised in Haifa, Israel, and is a graduate of Haifa University. He is fluent in multiple languages (English, Spanish, and Hebrew to name a few!) and deeply loves teaching languages! Throughout his post graduate life he has taught and tutored students in Hebrew and he loves the passion that people often have for learning Hebrew! Under his tutelage you can expect to learn Modern Hebrew with an Israeli accent!

Rachel grew up in Eilat on the southern tip of Israel’s borders. She has been a faithful teacher of Hebrew at California Universities and Colleges – and for the past 20 years has taught Hebrew at Beth Yeshua! Rachel has a deep and profound knowledge of Biblical Hebrew and has studied and instructed in Biblical Hebrew for over 60 years.
